Pond Installation & Repair in southern Missouri

Pond Installation & Repair

Ponds built and rebuilt across the Missouri Ozarks.

A pond that holds water, sheds storms, and looks like it's always been there.

What's included

Scope, in plain language.

  • Site evaluation for soil and water source
  • Dam design and core-trench construction
  • Spillway and overflow sizing
  • Excavation and shaping
  • Compaction in 6" lifts
  • Bank seeding and erosion control

How we do it

No mystery. No surprises.

  1. 01

    Test the dirt

We dig test holes to confirm you have enough clay to hold water. If you don't, we'll tell you up front before you spend a nickel.

  2. 02

    Design the dam

Dam height, top width, slopes (3:1 wet, 2:1 dry typical), spillway elevation, emergency overflow. We follow NRCS guidance.

  3. 03

    Cut the core trench

The single most important step in pond building. We cut down to clay and key the dam in.

  4. 04

    Build the dam in lifts

6" lifts, compacted with the dozer and a sheepsfoot. No shortcuts here.

  5. 05

    Shape and seed

Bank slopes shaped, spillway armored, banks seeded for erosion control.

What it costs

  • +Heavy rock that needs hammering
  • +Long dam (over 200 ft)
  • +Site that needs imported clay
  • +Concrete spillway requirements

Drives it down

  • Natural bowl that just needs damming
  • Onsite clay confirmed by test holes
  • Good access for a dozer and excavator

FAQ

Frequently asked

For a stock pond or a recreational pond, 1/4 to 3/4 acre is usually the sweet spot for cost vs. usefulness. We'll size it to your watershed — too big a pond on too small a watershed never fills.
